Selection Framework & Young Golfers Code of Conduct

·       Scoring Average & HCP Index

We’re looking for improvement in scoring average away from home course. Is the player improving, struggling or playing consistently? We love to see juniors who can perform away from their home course. We discourage entering general play scores (particularly at perfomance squad level). If a girl's golf is progressing technically and they can score away from home course, HCP index improvement will take care of itself.

·       Junior Opens and Spring Meeting, Girls County Championships & Autumn Meeting

We expect Squad and Academy members to play in Club run Junior Opens, specifically the 3 designated Girls's OOM events plus Spring & Autumn Meeting and the Girls County Championship.

·       SCLGA County Championship

The annual Sussex County Championship, played over three days, is for players with 15.6 HCP Index or below. This is a great test and we would expect any qualifying HCP girl to enter the event.

Junior County Match Week

A team of nine/ten players is selected from the current Team Sussex Squad each year to represent Sussex in the annual Inter-County Junior County Match Week competition. This event comrpsies a series of singles matches off scratch and a team foursomes stableford.

·       Participation in Coaching including feedback/use of CoachNow

We expect our Squad and Academy members to actively engage with coaching and provide ‘self assessment’ around key areas by recording statistics using CoachNow or UpGame. They are  GIR, 3 putts, scrambling and double bogeys. Boring golf tends to win matches!

·      Attitude on and off the course

Sussex is proud to have a friendly, fun and competitive environment with players who show respect and team spirit. A happy, caring player and team is MUCH more likely to succeed.
