Player Development - County Trials Day

On the first day of real winter at Willingdon GC we held our first Player Development day, now in its fourth year.

Sara Whittaker and Jack Budgen commenced the day with a welcome to the many new and also well known faces, including a number of juniors on the back of their excellent seasons. A presentation followed outlining the Sussex set up in terms of teams, a review of last year, and the programme for the year ahead.

Twenty-five players ventured out onto the golf course with 18 holes of golf played in a medal format on a day when the sun shone. However, that sadly did not last long as the weather turned bitterly cold with the wind gusting. Winners were rewarded with a sleeve of balls each - Amelie Knight, winning the nett and Emma Carberry the gross.

It is great to have Emma back in the fold and we do hope she will be able to represent Sussex again later in the year after time off to have a beautiful little girl.

Well played Emma.!
