Spectator / Supporter Guidance

SUPPORTERS AT THE INTER-CLUB GROUP STAGE MATCHES

Now that the golfing season has at last got underway, we would like to take the opportunity to remind everyone what the rules are on having Spectators/Supporters on the course at County competitions. We always welcome supporters to come along and support their clubs but sadly we have had some feedback that occasionally supporters can be a little over enthusiastic and may be intimidating for the opposition. We would therefore respectfully ask that the following guidance is followed:

  • All spectators should always maintain a minimum 20 metres from players
  • Supporters must not encroach on tees or the putting green.
  • Supporters should not walk behind or in front of players on the fairways but keep to the rough.
  • Do not interact with players whilst the match/competition is in play.
  • Do not ask what the scores are whilst play is underway
  • On NO ACCOUNT should competitors take any rulings from spectators.
  • All spectators should comply with this guidance to avoid accusation of players requesting or being given advice.
  • Some clubs are private members clubs, therefore out of courtesy please inform clubs if taking any supporters in case they need access to the clubhouse at any time.

This guidance is intended to offer a fair playing field to all concerned and ensure that neither team are overwhelmed by over enthusiastic supporters. We would hate to say no to supporters because of a minority.

At the County finals and major competitions, we will have roaming referees who will keep an eye on spectator interactions.
