Divisional Inter Club Championship - Quarter Finals: Division 2, 3 & Martlets & Division 1 Semi Finalists 

Following the completion of the Group Stages of the Divisional Inter Club Championships, quarter final matches have been taking place over the last two weeks. Weather has certainly played its part not only in the group stages but also the quarter finals. Our thanks to all teams and players who have competed and participated in the group stages and congratulations to those who won their respective groups to reach the Quarter Finals.

Highlights from the quarter finals for each division is shown below - winners will now go forward to the Semi Finals which will take place next week at Cooden Beach, 1 August.

Division 1
Group winners in Division 1 automatically proceed to the semi finals and our congratulations to:

Pyecombe
Bognor Regis

Division 2
Friday 19 July, Lewes GC
The British weather lived up to expectation by providing some very unpredictable weather. The Quarter finals for Division 2 were due to be played on the 5 July when summer weather would normally have been expected. However, 8 teams turned up to find a very windy and wet course with visibility almost zero. The first group ventured out for their match but after 5 holes it was decided that the lack of visibility was making it too dangerous to continue and the players were called in and the competition abandoned.

Our thanks to Lewes Golf Club who were extremely helpful in arranging another date for the fixture to be played 2 weeks later and this time the umbrellas were out again but for the sunshine rather than the rain.The fixture was rearranged for two weeks later and this time the umbrellas were out again but for the sunshine rather than the rain.

Division 3
12 July 2024, Mannings Heath

Thankfully the rain stayed away for our quarter finals and Mannings Heath presented a course that the Ladies thoroughly enjoyed. The first 2 quarter finals were very close with both having 2 matches go down the 19th, including the deciding matches.

The results of the day were

Match 1: Dyke vs Piltdown 
Match 2: Worthing Blue vs Worthing Yellow 
Match 3: Golf at Goodwood vs Royal Eastbourne Yellow
Match 4: Cuckfield Blue vs Royal Eastbourne Blue

Martlets
22 July 2024, Sweetwoods

The final Quarter Finals were for Martlets held at Sweetwoods Park. The weather was not great - a bit drizzly and not very warm for July.  Eight clubs competed to qualify for the Semi Finals with many matches very close and concluding on the 18th. The results were (winners in bold):

Match1: Ashdown Golfers vs Worthing
Match 2: Slinfold vs East Sussex National
Match 3: Chartham Park vs Cowdray
Match 4: Highwoods vs Royal Ashdown Forest
