This County competition, held in memory of Glenda Ricketts, is played every year at the Nevill Golf Course. The day started with heavy downpours but soon turned into a most wonderful sunny day!
The course was in good condition, despite the rain during the night and morning, the General Manager and staff as ever gave everyone a very warm welcome.
There were 48 lady competitors from 13 Clubs across Sussex taking part.
As the aim is to raise money for the Breast Cancer Now Charity, pink was again the order of the day for golf attire. The clubhouse echoed the theme with pink floral arrangements, table decorations, balloons, and posters. The raffle, which was run by Gill Nyberg, Lady Vice-Captain raised £340 and the Halfway house £120.88. After a delicious cream tea, the result of the silent auction was announced, and we now await to receive these funds before sending to the Breast Cancer Now Charity. We expect this to be over £1,500.
John Ricketts, Glenda’s husband, always presented the prizes but sadly he passed away in January 2020. Last year both Mel and her sister Tara, Glenda’s daughters, presented the prizes and we were glad to see them again this year presenting the prizes.
