Sussex Seniors Scratch League 
Wednesday 4th June, Petersfield GC 

The Seniors were to open their defence of the Mulligan Larsen Trophy away to Hampshire at Petersfield Golf Club. Sussex fielded a strong side, however Hampshire had a very different side from the previous year when we met for the first time in this competitive league.

3. Paula Carver - Worthing GC
4. Clarissa Bushell - West Sussex GC
5. Rachelle Black - Willingdon GC
6. Sara Whittaker - Willingdon GC 

Aileen headed off against the well renowned Kerry Smith who knew the course well as she also works there! Aileen was 2nd in this contest. Behind, Karen was up against Louise Caplen from Stoneham GC and a well fought contest resulted in a 4/2 win for Karen which was repeated by Paula. Clarissa's game came down to the last putt on the 18th green! Fortunately Clarissa holed it to win her game. Rachelle came up against an 'in form' Julie Cole from Romsey GC and was a worthy runner up.  So with the match standing at 3 - 2 in Sussex's favour it left Sara to bring up the rear and hopefully gain a win to take the match. Whilst the team waited with baited breath Sara walked down the 18th and to the teams relief had bagged the point with a half on the 17th taking the game 2/1.

Hampshire looked after us well with a lovely tea after play and the final result was a 4 - 2 win to Sussex. A great start to the season and the team are now looking forward to taking on Surrey at Hindhead GC on the 14th July.
