County Championship 2025: Final Report & Results
The final day of the championships and the SCLGA would like to extend their thanks to Al Adams, the secretary of West Sussex GC, and his team for their generosity hosting our County Championships over the last 3 days. The course was in superb condition, the catering and service excellent throughout the weekend. We wish to extend our thanks to the Lady Captain (Emilie Hunt) and her army of volunteers who were out on the course ball-spotting and flag waving AND our thanks to all West Sussex members for supporting and allowing us to host this prestigious event at their course. Final note on the flowers which were beautifully arranged by Deirdre Wickins, and Val Stephens prepared flowers for the dining tables too.
Following yesterday's hole-in-one by Amelia McGinty, West Sussex member Mary Bond who is the Junior Organiser at West Sussex (has held this role for over 25 years), celebrated Amelia's achievement back in the clubhouse with drinks for all players and county officials. Thank you Mary.
Over the last 3 days, we have welcomed 48 players, representing 16 clubs and including 8 junior players which is considerably higher than in previous years. Promising news for the future of our Sussex teams competing at regional and national levels.

As the players headed out for the final matches, the wind had picked up following the mornings play. Players from the morning matches and the previous two days returned to spectate the final matches. Player Development Manager Sara Whittaker was in attendance throughout the weekend, prior to her county team selection for County Match Week (team to be announced shortly).
Plate Final: Paula Carver v Maisie Hassall
The plate match was hard fought, the first four holes were birdies, two each and the match was nip and tuck throughout. At the turn Paula was 1up, Maisie then won the next 3 holes and managed to hang on to the lead winning on the 17th, 2 and 1.
