Mannings Heath Golf Club was the venue for the Sussex Ladies 1st team vs Sussex County Golf (SCG) and our Ladies 2nd team vs the Sussex Junior Girls.
Sussex Ladies 1st Team
On a beautiful sunny afternoon top junior Darci Lewis Bradbury led the first team out. A tight game ensued that was nip and tuck finally coming down to the last hole. A win for Kade Fullarton. Holly Crompton went out 2nd against Rupert Heal and won on the 14th. Katie Field was up and down all the way around with Nigel Phillps and was another to succumb to the 18th hole. Suzanne Taylor teed off with Jack Carson and after 18 holes they shared a half. The last match was Tracy Poulsom and Mandy Hilton playing foursomes against SCG County Secretary Emma Whitlock and Freddie Hopkins. The girls lost on the 17th giving the SCG a 2.5 - 1.5 victory.
Sussex Ladies 2nd Team
The ladies 2nd team put out 2 pairs of foursomes to play off handicap against the juniors. Bearing in mind exam season has started and the 1st team had already taken young Darci!!!
Sam Morfee and Emma Bullock took on Sophie Jones and Ella Mansfield and were very impressed with the girls play. However, they were less than impressed to lose on the 18th having given a shot!!! Rachelle Black and Katherine Giles played against the pocket rockets Farrah Martin and Olivia Corbin and lost on the 16th. Therefore the juniors won the match 2 - 0.
Player Development Manager, Sara Whittaker, would like to thank Mannings Heath for being such excellent hosts and allowing us to play their beautiful course which was in great condition. Thanks also to the SCLGA County Captain Margaret Brown, Junior Organiser Karen Parks and coach Jack Budgen for their help throughout the afternoon.
The stars of the day were the players and it was great to see so much potential in the future of Sussex golf. The attitude and determination of all was exemplary and the junior girls and boys certainly rose to the challenge.
