Sussex Seniors Scratch League
Friday 19th July, Royal Ashdown GC
The Seniors were to play Middlesex at the beautiful Royal Ashdown with a strong team including two Royal Ashdown players. However, all was not to be as the number 3 player tested positive for covid the evening before.
Captain Sara who was not playing this match stepped in playing at 6 but unfortunately she got a little too friendly with the heather after starting well and lost 3 & 2. Paula playing at 3 unfortunately did not get the breaks and fortunate lies that her playing partner did and lost after a battle on 18, 1 down.
The rest of the team played well and brought the team home. Tracy and Katherine who both know the course inside out both won 5/4 and 4/2 respectively. Whilst Aileen romped home 7/6 and Karen playing the renowned Lulu Housman won 5/4.
Thank you to our wonderful host club Royal Ashdown who looked after us superbly from start to finish with lunch before play and tea when all the players were in.
Another great win for Sussex, making it 4/4. The Seniors team have 1 match left against Hampshire at Willingdon GC. The team have all played there this season as the County championships were held there back in May. With a fully fit team Sara is hoping that the Mulligan Larsen Trophy will be on its way back to Sussex.
