Glenda Ricketts Memorial Salvers Supporting Breast Cancer Now: Results

Today saw the County competition, held in memory of Glenda Ricketts, a past Sussex Ladies Captain, which is played each year at the Nevill Golf Course. A high turnout on the day with many avidly watching the finale of the Ryder Cup after golf. The sun shone for most of the day on the 64 players from 22 clubs who participated. The course was in good condition with the usual quick greens and the delicious food at the half-way house was well received.

The aim is to raise money for the Breast Cancer Now Charity, and pink was again the order of the day for golf attire. Thank you for so many players displaying pink. The clubhouse was decorated with pink balloons, tablecloths and breast cancer banners. The raffle and donations totalled £1,000. Thank you!

With players celebrating Europe’s win today, the delicious cream tea was slightly delayed. The result of the silent auction was announced, and so far, we have raised £1410 from silent auctions bringing the total to £2410. Family members including Sammy, grandson of Glenda Ricketts, and her sister Bea both attended in special memory. Sammy, aged 15 years, presented the winners prizes, and made a short “thank you” speech to everyone present. It was heartwarming to hear him speak.
