Another cold, but bright day at Worthing provided the setting for the semi finals and finals of the 2019 Scratch Foursomes.

In the morning’s semi finals Karen Sykes and Penny Brown defeated Fenella Buss and Holly Crompton who were representing East Brighton.  After some steady play the match was very close until the 14th and 15th holes when Worthing took the advantage, and although East Brighton won the 16th hole, Worthing won the match on the 17th hole.

A similar match took place between Bognor Regis and Crowborough Beacon where Chloe Briance and Heather Tidy defeated Lizzie Price and Emma Morgan on the 16th hole.

A very close fought match for 3rd and 4th play off saw Lizzie and Emma defeat Fenella and Holly on the 17th hole.

The final saw some high class golf from both teams, but eventually the home pairing of Karen Sykes and Penny Brown defeated Chloe Briance and Heather Tidy on the 15th hole to win the 2019 Scratch Foursomes Championship.

Very many congratulations to Worthing and all of the finalists.

A huge “Thank you” to Worthing Golf Club for being such wonderful hosts and providing a challenging course in such good condition. Very many thanks to Lady Captain Marie Cole and all of the ladies who provided such a warm welcome to all of the players.
