Three Sussex players will compete in this prestigious competition on Monday 6th June at Kilmarnock Barassie GC, Troon, Scotland. The championship attracts a top international field with former winners including Leona Maguire, Georgia Hall and Anna Nordqvist. The winner gains entry to the AIG Women’s Open, US Women’s Open, The Evian Championship and Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship as well as lifting the historic trophy.
However, there’s a few steps to make the final! The first stage involves 144 players each of whom plays two rounds of 18 holes. The 64 lowest scores over the 36 holes will compete in the match play stage of the Championship. Each match will consist of one round of 18 holes, apart from the Final which will be over 36 holes.
We wish Salysa Mason (Cottesmore), Ellen Nicholas (Ham Manor) and Anna Wills (West Sussex) the very best of luck. I’m sure many of us know and remember these girls playing as Juniors, and now in Ladies events – you can follow their progress online – the start sheet is available by clicking on the link:
