The annual Alresford Cup took place yesterday with counties across the whole of the South of England participating. The team for this event is made up of six players with a range of handicaps: one player in the 0-9 category, two players with handicaps between 10-15, two players with handicaps between 16-24 and one player in the 25-30 category. The best four from six stableford scores are added up.
Sussex had a total score of 149 points, beating Dorset into second place by 4 points.
All of the team scored more than 30 points and three of the players scored better than their handicaps – fantastic performances in such a big event. Three of the girls were representing Sussex for the first time, aged just 11 and 12 (we do hope they don’t think this happens all of the time!)
Brandy Rook – Captain (Royal Eastbourne)
Anya Olsen (Worthing)
Sasha Gardiner (Holtye)
Millie Groves (Copthorne)
Yasmin Hang (Goodwood)
Anna Wills (East Sussex National)
Winning this trophy rounds off a superb year for the girls of Sussex, with three trophies to show for all of their hard work, commitment and skill.
