After an amazing year of fundraising, Cottesmore’s Lady Captain for 2018, Heather Skinner, was delighted to hand over a final cheque for £6,763.80 to her chosen charity “Heads On” which helps people with mental heath problems.

The money was raised through coffee mornings, raffles, a sponsored walk, quiz nights and charity fun days, and will be used to develop a new sensory garden at Langley Green Hospital in Crawley.

“The generosity of our Ladies’ Section has totally astounded me,” said Heather. “We are a small group of ladies and through many avenues of fundraising we have raised over £6,500 for Heads On and we’re still counting! We are pleased that this will go towards the new sensory garden, as it will improve the facilities for service users, staff and visitors. We all appreciate this is a great cause as one in four people are affected by some form of mental health illness. Cottesmore Ladies are pleased that the garden will be named the ‘Phoenix Garden’ after one of our courses. We very much look forward to visiting the garden in the future and seeing it blossom!”

Heads On staff and service users at Langley Green Hospital have said they will be delighted to welcome the Cottesmore Ladies to see their fundraising plans put into practice as soon as the new garden is set up, and expressed their huge thanks for all their fund-raising efforts.
