This week Banstead Downs hosted the South Region Ladies’ Championship. It was blustery on the Downs, and the rough was penalising, but Holly Standing, from Ashford Golf Club in Kent, shot 69 in the morning to break the course record. After the 36 holes, Holly was 3 ahead Chelsea Masters (Highwoods, Bexhill) and so winning both the Scratch Championship Trophy and the Handicap Trophy.

The Shield for the best 3 players from any one County was initially tied between Sussex and Kent; a decision was taken to add in the next best player to the aggregate total. Sussex therefore won the shield for 2017. Well done Sussex.
