Tessa Stockwell, 2nd Team Manager, also hung up her golf shoes at the 2018 County AGM. By way of an update, Tessa served on the SCLGA Committee from 2008 to 2011 helping to run the Jerdein and Kathleen Rider events. She introduced the 3 way County spilt and with her IT expertise devised a data entry method for the SCLGA to input the Divisional Draws and match results for the Divisions and the Morrice Foursomes.
On leaving the main Committee, Tessa became 2nd Team Manager, successfully guiding the team to win the Stovold Trophy for 3 years in a row, and twice finishing in 2nd place. This year Surrey only narrowly pipped Sussex, with both teams ending the season with identical points but Sussex losing out on games.
Tessa can’t believe that 5 years has gone by in a flash, but she’s really enjoyed the experience of working with good golfers. She’s hopeful that even though her golf has gone by the wayside a little, she’s keen to get her handicap back down to 8 in 2019!
For the future, she’s excited to report that “No sooner than one door closes, 2 doors open!” She’s recently joined Midhurst Camera Club and her first job isn’t a photography brief but a revamp of their website; and her tennis club has asked Tessa to update their website and include a court booking facility! If you want something done, it looks like you can rely on Tessa!
Tessa wishes Sandra Holman the very best of luck for 2019 and beyond in the hope that Sussex continues with its winning ways.
