Slinfold Golf have made the final four in this year’s national awards and are the only club in Sussex to achieve this nomination. They’ve been recognised for their innovative efforts by creating sustainable systems, such as a new members’ onboarding process, their use of IG and the successful pioneering of 9-hole qualifiers that blend competitive golf with contemporary lifestyles.
As many of their recent joiners have been new to the game, Slinfold was keen to offer them all the support they needed as they progressed from coaching on the academy course, through to acquiring a handicap and onto playing in competitions. They looked at how they could improve the newcomers’ experience and put in place a mentoring system.
Closely linked to the newcomer experience are their 9-hole competitions. A 9-hole format is the perfect confidence builder for those new to the game and have also proved popular amongst our senior ladies, those recovering from injury and those who have many calls on their time, making them a perfect fit with contemporary lifestyles.
Finally, the last of their innovations was to widen the use of their online golf management system by livening up the imagery, making the site easier to navigate and creating illustrated guides covering, amongst other things, rules, etiquette, and how to keep score.
Slinfold Ladies have also nominated long-serving member, Donna Davies, for the ninth award, the Lifetime Service Award, but England Golf is keeping it’s powder dry on who is in the running for that award until the night itself!
Slinfold Ladies are proud to have made the shortlist – may the best Club win! The awards night is on Thursday 21st March – good luck Team Slinfold!
