There is a possibility that England Golf will provide personal liability insurance to all Affiliated members as part of the Affiliation fee. However, until a final decision has been made, it is important that all golfers are aware of the SCLGA’s stance on golf insurance.

The SCLGA have reached the conclusion that we should not make golf insurance compulsory but golfers should be aware of the following:

“Whilst it is rare, occasionally players, spectators and organisers and ball spotters at golfing events get injured as a result of being hit by a golf ball. Some people suffering an injury may decide to take legal action against the player who has hit the errant shot. We recommend that you should consider taking insurance cover to protect yourself should any such claim be made against you.”
