We are seeking the support of the County that the Sussex County Ladies Golf Association should incorporate and the full details of the proposal can be read here – Proposal for SCLGA to Incorporate.

The main reason for the proposal is to protect the current and future volunteer committee members from potential financial liability, should the SCLGA be sued and the claim not be met either from the assets of the organisation or our insurers.  Whilst this situation is very unlikely, the Committee consider that it would be prudent to incorporate to provide this protection. It is increasingly becoming best practice for organisations such as ours to incorporate and is recommended by England Golf.  A move to an incorporated body also gives the opportunity to review the structure of the Committee, the procedures for joining the Committee and the operation of the Committee and to update as deemed appropriate.

We have now received support in principle from the members present at the AGM to begin initial work on this and expect to incur costs for the external advice.  We will hold a formal vote at a Special General Meeting on 4th March 2019.
