JCMW 15 carThis year we say farewell to two of our Elite squad members who, due to their age can no longer be considered ‘Juniors’!  Zhane Mayo of Royal Eastbourne has been a great influence on the Elite squad with her enthusiastic and committed approach. Zhane represented Sussex in the Junior County Match Week in both 2014 and 2015 and has reduced her handicap from 12 to 5 over the last two seasons. Her fun approach, enthusiasm and commitment will be much missed by all.

Jelina Fernando (pictured on the right with team mate Penny Brown) has achieved many successes in County Junior and Ladies’ events, especially over the past few years. She has been our County Junior Champion, winner of the Junior Order of Merit, runner up in the South Region Championships and much more. Jelina has represented Sussex in Junior County Match week 2011-2013, and been a member of the County 1st team in 2014 and 2015. Jelina has a very focussed approach to her golf which has brought her much well-deserved success.

We wish both our leavers much success and happiness in their golfing careers and look forward to hearing all about their future achievements.

Cuckfield 2 March 14We also say farewell and big ‘Thank You’s’ to members of our Junior Committee who have given great service to the girls.  Heather Skinner brought much enthusiasm and encouragement to our beginners’ coaching.

Chelsea Masters joined the Committee as a past junior and helped many young golfers with her experience, advice and guidance. Elaine Fell worked tirelessly behind the scenes as Junior Secretary – we thank them all very much for their great commitment and hard work.

We welcome Julie Field to our Junior Committee and are very grateful that she is taking on the role of Secretary. Julie’s daughter, Katie, is now a member of the Elite squad and plays at Bognor Regis – it was her husband Andrew who initiated the Sussex Girls Masters event in 2015.
