By way of an update during this unusual year, perhaps you’d like to know a little more about a local Sussex golfing girl, Anya Olsen, and what she’s been up to since leaving Brighton College!

Anya, 20, from Worthing Golf Club is currently studying Medicine at St Andrews University, Scotland and for 2020 is the Women’s Captain of the University Golf Club.  She’s in her third and final year at St.Andrews and the remaining part of her course will be based at the University of Manchester in Preston.

She began golf aged 7 at Rustington Golf Centre. She then joined Worthing when she was 11 and went on to be Junior Girls’ Captain.  Anya also played for the Sussex County Junior team, becoming Vice-Captain from 2017-18 and captained them through County Match Week to come 2nd for the 5th year running.

Anya plays off of a 6 handicap and this year, as Women’s Captain of the University Golf Club, she is co-ordinating a committee of 14 alongside the Men’s Captain, organising matches against other local clubs and universities, competitions for the members and the social side of the club.

We wish Anya the very best of luck with her golf in a new location and, of course, her career in medicine!
