The first SCLGA event of the year was held on 23rd July at Chichester Golf Club on the Cathedral Course, who generously stepped in at short notice to host the competition.  Despite the various challenges posed by a last minute venue change and Covid-19, the staff at Chichester GC, their Lady Captain and the SCLGA committee of the day worked extremely hard to provide some sort of normality in what has been a very difficult year.  We were lucky with the glorious golfing weather which helped make the day a success with some excellent scores, and it was a joy to see so many ladies and the camaraderie with the social distancing rules.

The winning club was Crowborough Beacon with Karen Harman and Pamela Johnston scoring a fantastic 77 points, Pamela (Handicap 20) scored a remarkable 42 Stableford points.  Very well done to Team Crowborough!

Runners-up: Bognor Regis with Chloe Briance (Handicap 2 and 38 points) and Penny Entecott scoring 71 Stableford points.

The response from one team sums up why it was all worthwhile to host this competition,

“We wanted to say thank you to you and all the SCLGA committee for organising the Jerdein Memorial Salver today. It was lovely to be able to play in a SCLGA event again and the day was well organised and ran smoothly. Thank you to Chichester Golf Club for hosting the event at short notice”.
