JCMW 2015 all smallerWhat an exciting week of thrills, spills and fantastic golf from the Sussex girls at Junior County Match Week.  They came out on Wednesday morning knowing they had to beat Kent and then hope for the ‘right outcome’ from the Surrey vs Hampshire match.  All guns a blazing, they did not disappoint – with some very emphatic wins, including Fenella 8&6 and Penny 7&5!  A very impressive last match of the week, securing a 6-1 victory…… well done, they could do no more.

All eyes then turnedJCMW 15 jump smaller to the second match out Surrey vs Hants – Sussex needed Surrey (last year’s winners) to beat Hampshire to secure victory – just the opposite of last year.  Having had a narrow 4-3 win over Surrey, and 3-4 loss to Hampshire everything this week has hung in the balance of the odd putts holed or missed.  Pulse rates and blood pressure soaring, the team could only watch….. only to see their hopes slip away as Hampshire secured the victory.  Congratulations Hampshire for your great play this week.

Sooooo close, again!  The girls gave it their all, winning more matches than Hampshire only to be pipped by half a point into second place again.

JCMW 15 buggy groupThe girls all did Sussex proud – a great team spirit, fantastic camaraderie and maturity.  Cool under pressure – with the experienced girls and rookies playing awesome golf.  Congratulations girls, you’ve set a new benchmark for a team to be proud of.  More stories and pics later in the week, with Junior Captain Lizzie Price telling us about JCMW from the inside and County Organiser Pat Johns sharing her thoughts on our fantastic team.
