News hot off the press today, is that Holly Crompton (East Brighton) won the Women’s Medal Final by a single stroke after a grandstand finish.

Holly plays off 5 had her only birdie of the day on the 18th to finish with a gross 77, net 72, putting her 1 shot ahead of 3 other players.

Her consistency was key to success, hitting 13 greens in regulation to keep in contention throughout the day. Her careful hitting may have been spurred on by her experience in the practice round on Wednesday, her only previous visit to the course, which was played in torrential rain.

It was her first appearance at the national final after qualifying through the Order of Merit system at East Brighton Golf Club before finishing 9th in the regional final at Guildford Golf Club.

She credited the support of her family after her success: “Getting the win was a great surprise, and I’m just thankful to my dad for caddying for me.”
