It’s the Women’s Senior British Amateur Championship at Crail Golfing Society this week.  Formed in 1786, the Society is the 7th oldest golf club in the world. There are two courses at Crail (Balcomie Links and Craighead Links) and the ladies will be on Craighead Links perched on the cliffs looking out at the North Sea. Three Sussex ladies are competing – Clarissa Bushell (West Sussex), Aileen Greenfield (Pyecombe) and Katherine Russell (Royal Ashdown Forest). We wish them the very best of luck at this event, which involves golfers from all over the world with handicaps of +2.6 to 4.9!

It’s 4 rounds of stroke play beginning tomorrow, Tuesday 18th September.  After 36 holes, the players returning the 40 lowest scores and any tying for 40th place qualify for the final 18 holes.

A hole-by-hole play-off determines the winner in the event of a tie.
