The Season’s first junior event got off to a breezy start at Sweetwoods Park yesterday with the Girls’ Spring Meeting. Eighteen girls took part aged 9–17 and handicaps ranging 5–28.  In really difficult and testing windy conditions the girls fought to control their ball flight to achieve accuracy. The course was in very good condition for this time of year which enabled some of the girls to achieve a good score. Highlight of the day was Millie Groves, 12 years old, hitting her 6 iron onto the 199 yards par 3 15th hole!

As is tradition at the Spring Meeting, they said farewell to the out-going Junior Captain Hannah Duval (Highwoods) and welcomed the 2015 Captain Lizzie Price of Nevill GC. The Junior Organiser Pat Johns thanked Hannah for all of her hard work and great contribution to the County Girls 2014 season, especially during JCMW. Hannah then congratulated Lizzie and wished her good luck as she presented the Captain’s badge of office.
