After the bad weather of yesterday, it was decided that all matches would be played over nine holes. A bit like the 20/20 cricket, matches over 9 holes are really exciting.

In the first match Sussex played Kent. The matches were really close. Sussex won the match 4/3. With half an hour’s rest the girls were on the tee again to play their match against Hampshire. Sussex won that match 5/2.

It felt a bit like going round and round in circles, but after a quick lunch we played Middlesex. The girls went out in superb spirits and managed to secure a 7/0 win. Rookie player Maisie Hassall in her first match for Sussex, secured a 5/4 win.

Now Sussex have won 3 matches with one to play against Surrey. It is all to play for as Surrey have also won 3 matches! The drama continues with lots of yellow supporters following the matches.

Tension was building as the matches progressed. After the first 3 were completed, the score was 1.5 – 1.5. The following games were all going the way of the Sussex girls but it was very close. With great excitement, after 5 years as runners up in this competition, Sussex won 5.5 – 1.5. Go Team Sussex! Champions 2019!
