County Match Week
Following an update from England Golf that they have postponed all of their training, competitions and championships until 27th July, we have very sadly reached the conclusion that we must cancel this year’s County Match week, due to be held at East Sussex National. This was not an easy decision, but a necessary and inevitable one in the current situation surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic.
I know that players, county committee and officials will be very disappointed, especially as this was to be the last year of the current 5 days format, and I must thank firstly East Sussex National Golf Club for all of their support, help and understanding at this time – they could not have done more to ensure that we would have had a great week. I would also like to thank all of the committee who have contributed so much time and effort into all of the planning of this event and to those ladies who had volunteered to help. England Golf have informed me that there will be an event in September which will include all 35 County Associations, so please watch this space for more news!
Given the current situation a decision has also been made to cancel the County Championships – due to be held on 5th – 7th June, and the Kathleen Rider on 15th June. No decision about further cancellations – eg Seniors A or Jerdein have been made at this stage – we are taking one month at a time.
Players who have individually entered competitions such as County Champs etc, will receive a full refund in due course. For all of the “Club” competitions – Division, Morrice Fours, Kathleen Rider etc, when we know at the end of the season which competitions have been cancelled, all clubs will be notified about refunds/transferring entry fees to next year.
Please bear with us at this unprecedented time as we adjust our planning according to the current situation.
Finally – may I take this opportunity to wish you all well, stay safe and hopefully we will all be able to meet up soon and play some golf.
