After the storms across Sussex on Thursday, with thunder, lightning and torrential rain resulting in flash flooding, everyone was hugely relieved when Friday turned out to be a perfect day for golf at Lewes. Even though the greens had flooded the day before, they had drained and were in good condition, and a light breeze made it a perfect day for the County Rumble.
With 21 teams of three from 14 different clubs, this fun competition always proves very popular. As County President and Lewes member Mel Boyse remarked – on a good day, Lewes is a beautiful place to play golf! Everyone admired the views and were thankful they weren’t playing on Thursday – what a difference a day makes!!
The results were:
Winners – Dorothy Turton, Diana Sheppard & Lindsey Weatherley (Crowborough Beacon) 79 points
2nd place – Rita Furtado, Poo Adam & Janie Champness (Royal Ashdown Forest) 78 points ocb
3rd place – Mandy Quick (Lewes) Maggie Hawkins & Yvonne Jenkins (Dyke) 78 points
4th place – Caroline Kemp, Jackie Sargent & Liz Stone (Royal Ashdown Forest) 77 points
Nearest the Pin – Maggie Hawkins (Dyke)
Nearest the Pin in 2 – Ann Moxon (Cuckfield)

Thank you very much to the team at Lewes for all their hard work on the day.
