We were greeted with a chilly start for the morning foursomes where we won 2.5 points. Chloe Briance & Salysa Mason and Heather Tidy & Fenella Buss won the points with Elodie Yates and Brandy Rook gaining the half point. Our best result heading into the singles.
The sun was warm, the wind was gusting and the firm, speedy greens made for an interesting afternoon. Lizzie Price and Brandy Rook each earned a point and some of the other matches were close but we didn’t quite get the points we needed to claim our first match point of the week. The quality of golf was there with lots of birdies and shots worthy of applause.
Chris Handson, Ann Carnegie, Pat Johns and Hannah Ralph couldn’t have asked anymore of the Sussex team.
They played their hearts out in every single match and, if the golfing gods had have been on our side, things may have been different…
However, we take away a lot of positives and our two rookies have gained invaluable experience which will stand them and Sussex in good stead for the future.
As always, it was a real pleasure to be involved in such a fun, happy, committed and determined team. We thank each player and hope they enjoy a well earned rest!
