At the recent SCLGA AGM as well as saying a fond goodbye to Sandra Holman, there were an additional two “leavers” who’ve served the committee in various capacities namely Vicki Pett and Wendy Shergold.
Vicki Pett has been the County Registrar and her role was to organise the County Cards. She was on the County team for five years and has been Registrar since 2014. This post is no longer a separate officer role and has been amalgamated into the Treasurers duties and responsibilities from 2019.
Wendy Shergold has been Vice Captain and Captain of Hill Barn Golf Club, spent 5 years as Captain of Division 3 at Worthing also serving on the Ladies Committee, been Vice Captain, Captain, Vice President and President of the SLC&SGA!
For the past 3 years she’s been on the SCLGA Committee running the Senior’s Competition at Piltdown for those 3 years and the Morris Foursomes for the last 2 years. She says, “This time has been immensely satisfying, I really enjoyed organising the events and having such good rapport with the Clubs and players involved. I would like to thank the committee for their very valuable help and advice – I shall miss them.”
As with many ladies, Wendy has wanted to give something back to a sport that she’s enjoyed so much, hence her far reaching commitment over the years. During all this time her husband Roy has been a stalwart and helped her on many occasions but now it’s their time and she’s looking forward to playing more golf with Roy!”
Good luck to both Vicki and Wendy, you’ll both be missed on the SCLGA Committee.
