Club Captain, Mike King entering into the fun with cowgirl Deirdre Wickins

Littlehampton’s golfers celebrated their Lady Captain’s Day in style this year with a Texas themed event.  Lady Captain Nikki Greenwood organised a Texas Scramble competition which was won by Gilly Ewers, Debbie Fletcher and Sylvia Dobbs with a nett score of 59.2, then fifty of the ladies continued with the wild west theme by dressing up as cowgirls. Nikki said ‘it was a fantastic day with great weather, good golf and it was lovely to see everyone getting involved’. Afterwards they all enjoyed a BBQ and drinks outside on a positively Texan hot sunny day!

As a charity fund raising day ‘fines’ were charged for not parring certain holes and for anyone wearing denim. Nikki (pictured right in dark pink hat in the front row) said ‘we don’t normally allow blue denim in our dress code but I made a special dispensation for the day, however I couldn’t let it go without a fine and all ladies in jeans paid up!’ A total of £113 was raised for St Barnabas Hospice on the day.
