We expect that many Sussex Golf Clubs have not seen much golfing action over the past week or so with such extraordinary weather since the end of October. For those of you who like statistics, the average rainfall for November is 85.7mm and the actual rainfall was 140.8mm (Southern Water); December’s figures are not yet available but with at least 2 weeks’ worth of rain falling within the past 24 hours, the actual rainfall will be far greater than November’s numbers. The flooding that is evident all around Sussex has caused so much damage and chaos to roads and travel plans, that it may be sometime before we all return to some normality.
However, please spare a thought for our Professionals and Club Staff who would expect to see some footfall in the shop, spike bars and restaurant. It may be tricky, but it would be good to try and support them throughout this rather bleak time….the Pro’s Christmas raffle, coffee with friends or a little last minute shopping in the Pro Shop!
In the meantime, if you have any photos of your club underwater, share them here and I’ll be happy to post them on the SCLGA website.
