As golf courses reopened yesterday, many of you will have been able to pick up your rather dusty clubs, clean them off before playing, and book a tee-time (if you can get one) at your club.  However, in the hours since lockdown has eased, there’s been frantic organisation in the background to allow the resumption of golf, albeit with huge challenges to overcome.

Please remember, that many clubs have just had 48 hours to prepare for resumption of play.  General Managers, Pros, Captains, Committee Members, Greens Staff, Club Staff and Volunteers have pulled together to keep clubs afloat and open quickly for your enjoyment.

As a reminder, England Golf have agreed with Government the rules that must be obeyed for golf to played safely, as the threat from Covid-19 is still very real.  They have produced a document called “Play Safe, Stay Safe” – which is available to read here.

Nonetheless, many of you will be happy simply to be able to get back on the course after seven weeks without any golf. How long golf takes to return to some semblance of normality remains to be seen, and may be influenced by how quickly clubs and golfers can adjust to new precautionary measures.
