The Sussex second team travelled to Sudbury for the next round of the Stovold Trophy. After overcoming many traffic delays, 3 of the team arrived late on Sunday afternoon for a courtesy practise round which had been generously offered by the club.
The remaining team members travelled in the morning and the match began in drizzly and cool conditions. However, this did not deter the Sussex girls and they won 2 of the 3 matches, losing one on the 18th green.
After a good lunch, the team set forth again – this time in warm, sunny but very breezy conditions. The matches were close with another 2 games going to the 18th and Charlotte Topping hitting a superb lag putt to ensure she won the 18th to halve her match! It was very exciting!
Sussex won the afternoon singles session 3.5 to 2.5 and winning the match overall by 5.5 points to 3.5 points.
The team are in action again for their final match against Surrey at Haywards Heath on Thursday 22nd August – why not come along and support them?
