The sun shone on the sixteen youngsters playing at Worthing in their Junior Girls Open last Sunday. They were treated to perfect weather and the golf course was in fantastic condition.
The girls were playing for the Pat Brown Trophy (net score) and the Di Langridge Trophy (scratch score). The girls came from all over Sussex to compete in this strongly contested event which is part of the Sussex Girls’ Order of Merit. The lowest handicap was 5 and youngest player just 11 years old. The girls played great golf and produced some magnificent scores.
The winner was Worthing’s Megan Edwards aged 16 with 41 points (off a 9 handicap), winning the Pat Brown Trophy for the second year in a row and on count back from 11 year old Gudrun Nolan from Hollingbury with 41 points (31 handicap), who was the youngest competitor at 11. Yasmin Hang from Goodwood playing off 18 was third with 40 points.
Lizzie Price from Nevill won the scratch competition to receive the Di Langridge Trophy with 33 points, second was Chloe Burden also from Nevill with 30 points.
Anya Olsen (Worthing) won the best front 9 score with 22 points and nearest the pins on the 2nd and 16th holes . Becky Losh (Worthing) won the best back 9 score also with 22 points.
