Congratulations to Copthorne, East Sussex National, Nevill and Singing Hills for making it through to Finals Day of the 2014 Morrice Foursomes Matchplay.  Played on Thursday at Ham Manor GC, the conditions were really lovely with pleasant temperatures and no wind.  The course was challenging with very lush rough and fast greens, and the competition was fierce!

In the morning semi finals there were some really close games, with Nevill beating Singing Hills and East Sussex National beating Copthorne, which set up the afternoon final of ESN versus Nevill.  Some great golf was played, and East Sussex National won the match to become the Morrice Foursomes Matchplay Champions for 2014.

One of the entertaining moments of the day came in the 3rd and 4th playoff match between Copthorne GC and Singing Hills.
On 6th Hole the Singing Hills pair drove down the middle of the fairway towards a young seagull, who strolled around a bit, returned towards the ball, gave it a nuzzle and decided he (or she?) liked it!  He promptly picked it up and flew off up the fairway dropping it about 70 yards nearer the hole much to everyone’s horror! Rule 18-1 was applied – the ball was replaced at the point it was taken from, agreed by the players – despite the help, they failed to get their birdie!
