JCMW 15 bags bigger

Well prepared by their Coach Ryan Fenwick and Pat Johns our Junior County Organiser, the Sussex Girls played their first match of JCMW 2015 against a strong Hampshire side today. The early morning practice session and team briefing had everyone fired up and ready to go.

The first of the seven singles matches saw our lowest handicap player, Penny Brown, leading out the team and doing a great job to turn her match round to come back from 2 down with a birdie birdie finish, closing out the match 4&2.

All the games were nail bitingly close….. Fenella’s putter was on fire as she sank some amazing putts, but sadly not quite enough to secure a victory. Rookie Megan Edwards also came back from 2 down to secure her first Sussex point winning her match on the 18th.

Nip and tuck all the way, but sadly, we lost 4-3, oh so narrowly…. Well done to today’s winners:  Penny, Chloe and Megan.

Whilst no doubt the girls are disappointed, the event remains wide open as Middlesex secured victory in another very close match, beating Kent by the same 4-3 margin.

We play Surrey on Tuesday morning, no doubt the girls will come out fighting! Good luck everybody.
