The Girls Golf Rocks initiative kicked off earlier this month at Cottesmore and Dale Hill Golf Clubs. Designed specifically for girls aged between 5 and 18 it offers all participants a free initial taster session, girls-only coaching courses and the chance to get out and play.
The first session saw over 70 beginner girls! Cottesmore attracted over 50 girls on a sunny yet bitterly cold morning filled with FUN drills and movement games.
Dale Hill weren’t so lucky with heavy overnight rain causing the ground to be too muddy for running and drills outdoors, so the bar area became the warm up room, and the function suite was hastily turned from dance floor to golf drills floor!
All the youngsters worked their way round a number putting drills, chipping drills, with running and co-ordination skills. A lot of fun was had by all, and over half of the girls have signed up for the next stage of coaching. Every participant was presented with a medal and encouraged to sign up for the next stage of 5 weekly one hour sessions at the club. As an added incentive, every girl who attends the full five weeks coaching will be fitted with a 7-iron.
