Sue ToddThe clock’s changed and the AGM is done – with 190 ladies attending from 52 clubs it was a fantastic turnout, thank you everybody.

Where does time go – in a blink of an eye my first year is complete! We’ve been blessed with sunshine and a summer that stretched well into Autumn, had few weather challenges and only rarely did the wet weather gear get used to see so many of you tee off this year. Having a quick tot up, 827 of you teed off in our 11 County Competitions, there were 2,861 singles division matches played and 552 Morrice Foursomes matches – wow, that’s a lot of golf, I do hope you all had fun and had some great matches!

There are too many highlights this year to list them all, but some that spring to mind have been the awesome Junior performances under the leadership of Pat Johns; our 2nd team were within one point of winning the Stovold Trophy, well done to the players and Team Manager Tessa Stockwell; and our Seniors team was unbeaten this year too. We’re proud to have just launched an Order of Merit selection process for the County 1st team and it’s great to see so many people getting involved in our comprehensive range of development programmes. Earlier in the year we launched our new web site and we’ve had lots of fantastic feedback from many of you; we’ve had 34,000 visits April-October, with a peak of 600 in just one day for County Match Week.  Make sure you bring us your Club News so that we can share it with everyone.

A special thank you to those in the team who are leaving us: Brenda Gilbey our Immediate Past Captain has worked tirelessly on the Committee for 12 years, Jane Rogers our Divison 1 Secretary leaves us after 5 years, we also lose Marlene Gibson our Division 3 Secretary and Pat Lowing who has done such a great job organising so many events for you all over the past 3 years.

Whilst the golf season might be quietening down for all of you, rest assured there’s still plenty of work being done on your behalf by the SCLGA, particularly all the Development sessions and preparation for next season’s events. Development for All is open to all players of all abilities, so do get involved over the winter months. The web site will continue to bring you news and details of plans for next year, so don’t forget to stay in touch!
