The Development Squad girls (15-30 handicap) met for their final winter training session at Mid Sussex on Sunday. The coaching was run by the Club Professional Kieron Judges and, despite a very chilly and windy day, the girls did really well with a 9.30 start on the driving range!
The session focused on improving pitching and working out yardages of their clubs. The girls were split into two groups, one working with Kieron on the ‘Trackman’ and the other on the driving range working through their clubs and checking their distances which the girls found really helpful. At the end of the morning there was a fun competition using the Trackman with the teams battling against each other for accuracy and distance – the result was a very exciting tie!
With jacket potatoes and the warmth of the clubhouse much needed by lunchtime, the girls discussed their target handicaps for the coming season. Dominique wants to get to 12 from 16, Olivia 28 from 36, Becky 20 from 27, Anna 20 from 27, Millie 12 from 18, Ellen 18 from 22. All great targets to aim for.
In the afternoon Sarah Cooper-Olsen and Christine Knight took the girls out for a few holes for some head to head competition – another exciting tie with both teams scoring 28 points!
The girls are all excited about the new season. They are looking forward to the monthly training sessions at Mid Sussex on Saturday afternoons.
