Spring must surely be in the air as sixteen ladies attended the Development for All coaching last Sunday in the freezing cold! They worked on the short game which included shots over hazards and bunkers and concentrated on using different clubs around the green to work out how far our balls would land and then roll out to.
The group learnt about the basics of chipping and using a sand wedge, 9 and 7 iron to understand the different amount of roll with each club.
The session focused on:
- What is my obstacle and where does it stop?
- The ‘landing zone’
- Club selection to provide the appropriate bounce and run
- Force to apply to pitch the ball on to the landing spot
- The set up position
- Playing the Shot
The last session of this winter’s programme is 10-12 on Sunday 3rd April, it will continue to work on the short game and playing out of bunkers.
