Day 3 at Walton Heath, (day 2 for Sussex)
With a bad weather forecast the team were pleased to keep dry in the morning. The first pair lost their match but the other two won to put us 2 – 1 up heading into the afternoon singles.
The rain started over lunch; but we were, as ever, ready and prepared for every eventuality. Chelsea lead the team out and secured the 1st afternoon point closely followed by Jelina, Penny and Brandy. Elodie, in her first match, put up a brave fight but unfortunately lost on the 18th. Katherine, in the anchor match, played well; but her opponent holed more putts!
The overall result was 6 – 3 which was a brilliant achievement in such horrible conditions. We now need to dry out and warm up ready to play Hampshire tomorrow.
The yellow supporters again turned out in large numbers which was hugely appreciated by the players and officials. Everyone got soaked but they were still smiling and the whole team played a part in a successful day.
