nat finals team scoreboardThis week has passed in a whirl of activity, lots of great golf and thrilling nail biting matches, our team really have done brilliantly this week – so proud of everybody.

The morning foursomes against Bucks saw Sussex 2-1 up. The first pairing of Chloe and Jelina secured their win 2&1 after Jelina hit an amazing shot to the par 3 17th leaving just a 4 foot putt for Chloe to sink the birdie and close out the match. The third pairing of Karen and Sophie won their match 3 up. A shot played by Karen on the 6th left the spectators speechless, from a plugged lie in the face of the bunker she hit an awesome shot to within inches to halve the hole. That’s our girl!

The afternoon singles were exciting right up to the end. So much depended on the result as we were determined to improve our finishing place. The first 3 players secured wins giving the other players a morale booster….. Penny was 2 down through 11 and fought her way back to win 2 up. Aileen had an awesome bunker save on 17 to save her par and win the match.

nat finals 2015 team cheerThe final match result was a 6-3 win, we could do no more. A nerve wracking time waiting for the other matches which impacted our final place – hurrah, with Lancashire and Gloucestershire halving their match it meant that we finished in second place behind Nottinghamshire who secured their winning spot yesterday. A great result, what an awesome team.
