Penny & Jelina crop

Another great day of exciting golf, with sunshine and light breezes as Sussex played Kent.  Our team came fast out of the starting blocks in the morning foursomes and there were real thrills when Paula chipped in on the 12th for eagle, which helped her and partner Chelsea close out the match with a convincing 5&4 win.

Come back of the day came from Chloe and Jelina who found themselves 3 down with 4 to play, and with valiant grit and determination managed to win their match on the 18th hole.  By lunch time we were 2-1 up, all to play for in the afternoon singles.

they grow so fast smallJuniors Penny and Jelina, pictured above, notched up two good singles wins.  Jelina, in just her second County Match Week, has played four and won four matches. Katherine found herself playing an ex-international, and despite her eagle/birdie/birdie run on 11/12/13, had to dig in to close out her match on the 18th – nerve jangling for the spectators!  Another win notched up for Aileen saw the team secure a 6-3 victory over Kent.

A well earned rest day tomorrow, nicely in the middle of the week – well played girls.

Still plenty of exciting golf to be played on Thursday (play starts 8.30/1.15) against holders Hampshire and then Surrey on Friday (play starts 9.05/14.04) .

With a new referee doing work experience….. There’s a great team spirit, some awesome golf and the weather forecast is looking good – see you over at Worthing!
