nat finals 2015 small group by wallSussex played Gloucestershire in rain, sun and wind in equal measures.  The morning foursomes were closely fought with the first pair of Chelsea Masters and Paula Carver taking their match to the 18th having been 4 down.  The foursomes result of 1 1/2 – 1 1/2 put us in a good position for the afternoon singles.

The 3 rookies at County Finals, Penny Brown, Jelina Fernando and Sophie Kennard won their matches in the afternoon singles contributing to the terrific final score of 5 1/2 – 3 1/2.

The ‘hole of the day’ was played by Chloe and Jelina in the morning foursomes.  Having taken a penalty drop from a gorse bush, Chloe hit a 5 iron from the nearby fairway, over some tall trees to the green.  A miracle shot in its own right but then Jelina slotted in the putt which was definitely no gimme to halve the hole.  Chloe and Jelina went on the halve their match.
