Our first ever Texas Scramble for beginner/non-handicap girls was played today at West Chiltington GC. The weather was awful – rain, rain and more rain. The seven girls who entered played in great spirit with real enthusiasm, despite the horrible conditions. Everybody made new friends, the reception and support from the members and staff at West Chiltington was great. One of the members, Andrew, kindly started the girls and showed them round the course with some hints and tips along the way – thank you Andrew.

The event was won by Anna Wills and Becky Losh (pictured with County Junior Organiser Pat Johns). Anna won the longest drive with a superb tee shot (that any player would be proud of!) and Heidi Denyer won shot of the day with a great chip and putt on the seventh hole

Many thanks to Margaret Brice for stepping in and helping throughout the day, as well as the parents and grandparents who stayed and walked the course in horrid conditions.

We look forward to returning to West Chiltington to run a future event – hopefully with more girls playing this fun day next year. Well done girls – you were great!
