Tuesday 16th - PM

Sussex v Surrey:

We had a tough start for our first match with blustery condititions and an incredible strong Surrey team as our opponents. Both Hannah Duval and Jelina Fernando won their games (Jelina impressively 6&5!). The other girls battled hard and played brilliantly, but in the end had to succumb to the low handicap Surrey girls pipping them at the post.

Scores: Hope Beland, Lost 5&3, Sarah Park, Lost 4&3, Hannah Duval, Won 2&1, Sophie Kennard, Lost 2&1, Lizzie Price, Lost 4&2, Amber Cockram, Lost 5&3, Jelina Fernando, Won 6&5

Wednesday 17th - AM

Sussex v Middlesex:

After an early start and then a long wait until tee off the girls took a while to get going against Middlesex. The matches at the front of the field were closely fought but eventually started to go to the Middlesex camp. The games at the back went the other way with strong wins from both Maddy Man & Jelina Fernando. Eventually the match was tied 3-3 with just Amber's game still going and after a nervous walk for both teams up the 18th Amber then holed a 15ft putt to take the point and Sussex won 4-3.

Scores: Sarah Park, Lost 3&2, Hannah Duval, Lost 2&1, Sophie Kennard, Won 2up, Lizzie Price, Lost 2&1, Amber Cockram, Won 1up, Jelina Fernando, Won 9&8, Maddy Man, Won 4&3

Wednesday 17th - PM

Sussex v Kent:

Having witnessed Kent beat a strong Surrey team convincingly in the morning the girls were nervous, but had nothing to lose in their matches against the experienced home side. The golf was outstanding from both teams with most of our girls playing below their handicaps, but with the Kent girls doing the same we struggled to compete and lost the match 7-0.

Scores: Hope Beland, Lost 3&2, Sarah Park, Lost 5&3, Hannah Duval, Lost 4&3, Lizzie Price, Lost 6&5, Amber Cockram, Lost 6&5, Jelina Fernando, Lost 3&1, Maddy Man, Lost 4&3

Thursday 18th - PM

Sussex v Hampshire:

A very important match as Hampshire had beaten Kent in the morning session which meant our last match would decide the result of the whole tournament. The girls went out with a real buzz and we were soon up in four games and not too far behind in the others. Into the back nine the games went to Sussex and then to Hampshire and resulted in us being in a 3-3 situation yet again! Lizzie this time was the last standing and battled her way to a half point at the last. This was enough for Hampshire to take the trophy for the first time since joining our division.

Scores: Hope Beland, Won 4&3, Sarah Park, Lost 5&4, Sophie Kennard, Won 2&1, Lizzie Price, Halved, Amber Cockram, Lost 4&2, Jelina Fernando, Lost 3&2, Maddy Man, Won 3&2

Well played to all the Sussex Girls, they did us proud on every step they took, every shot they hit and every putt they holed.
